BC girls whip St. Al

BOGUE CHITTO — Candace Avants and Kelli Howard belted 3 singlesapiece Thursday night to lead the Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats to an 8-2Division 7-1A win over the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes.
The Lady ‘Cats outhit the Lady Flashes 14-2 at the plate. BogueChitto committed 5 errors and St. Al followed with 3 in thegame.
Bogue Chitto improved to 2-5 on the season and 2-0 in districtplace. St. Al fell to 7-7 overall and 3-1 in district action.
Tonight, Bogue Chitto hosts Enterprise for two games, beginningat 5 p.m. with the junior varsity team.
“We hit the ball tonight,” said Bogue Chitto coach ScottLeggett. “When you hit the ball, you can win. This was a bigdistrict win for us.”
Josie Porter tripled and singled for the Lady ‘Cats. Followingwith a double and a single each were LaToya Braxton and CaitlinOwen.
“We did not hit the ball after several opportunities,” said St.Al coach Gene Rogillio. “We played good defense but could not getit going at the plate.”
Junior varsity action
Bogue Chitto whipped St. Al 9-0 in JV play. Toy Smith fanned 4batters and walked 6 for the win. Taylor Ann Hasty took the loss,striking out 4 and walking 1.
Bradi Davis led the Lady ‘Cats with a home run. Laken Crosbysingled twice.
