Arkansas woman killed in afternoon accident

An Arkansas woman is dead after a Tuesday afternoon two-vehiclecollision in Walthall County.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Sgt. RustyBoyd said Tracie L. Ward, 43, of El Dorado, Ark., was killedTuesday at 3:38 p.m. on Highway 48 east of Tylertown, and one milewest of New Zion Road.

Boyd said Ward was traveling east on Highway 48 when her 2004Harley Davidson motorcycle crossed over into the westbound lane ona curve and collided head-on with a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck.The truck, owned by the Mississippi Department of Agriculture, wasdriven by Willis Rushing, 76, of Tylertown.

Ward was airlifted from the scene and taken to Forrest GeneralHospital where she was pronounced dead, Boyd said. Rushing wastaken by personal vehicle to Walthall General Hospital withmoderate injuries, none of which were life-threatening.

Rushing was wearing a seatbelt and Ward was wearing a helmet, Boydsaid.
