Brookhaven Academy rips ASC, Centreville

LIBERTY — The Brookhaven Academy Cougars were powered by seniorpitcher Paul Davis who ripped a home run, a triple, a double and asingle for 5- RBIs Saturday afternoon as the Cougars whipped theAmite School Center Rebels 12-0 in a six-inning baseballcontest.
On the mound, Davis (4-0) fanned five batters and walked none,working three innings.
Brookhaven Academy, coached by Stephen Cooksey, improved to 14-2on the season and are 8-1 in district play.
In Friday’s game, the Cougars whipped the Centreville AcademyTigers 21-1 in five innings. Winning the two-hitter was senior SethDavis with six strikeouts and no walks.

Contributing to the Saturday win for the Cougars with a 2-RBIhomer was Steven Covington. Corey Dickerson solo homered for 1 RBI.Kolby Byrd doubled. Collecting two singles were Keith Franklin.T-Boy Lynch singled for an RBI. Hitting safely were JeremyWinborne, Price Sessums and Ryan Vanderslice.
Also seeing action on the mound for Brookhaven were JonathanWhite in the fourth inning with 3 hits allowed, no strikeouts andone walk. Dickerson finished out the sixth inning with one hitallowed.
Gabe Lambert was the losing hurler with no strikeouts and twowalks.
Brookhaven outhit ASC 13-1.
Casey Aldridge led the Rebels with three singles. Will Hugginsand Justin Baggett singled.

Friday night’s win saw the Cougar collect20 hits toCentreville’s two. The Tigers committed eight errors and theCougars had none.
Paul Davis sparked the Brookhaven batting barrage with homer, adouble and a single for 3 RBIs. Franklin and Winborne ripped twodoubles and a single each for 4 RBIs and 3 RBIs respectively.Doubling twice was Lynch with 2 RBI. Vanderslice doubled andsingled for 2 RBI.
Adding support to the Cougar win with a double and a single wasSeth Davis. Bradley Allred doubled. Covington singled twice. Byrdand Dickerson hit safely. Davis, Allred, Covington, Byrd andDickerson had an RBI apiece.
Josh Lanehart took the loss, fanning two batters and walkingone.
Doubling was Centreville was Alex White followed by Bill Walshwith a single.
