Brookhaven accounted for five extra-base hits on rain-soakedMoyer Field and beat the Natchez Bulldogs 10-8 Monday night in asoggy, non-division test. Winning pitcher Josh Townsend struck out5 batters and walked 5.

Brookhaven (4-2, 2-1), coached by Randy Spring, resumes playtonight, visiting Lawrence County for a key Division 6-4A contest.The junior varsity game starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsityat 7 on Jimmie Davis Field.

On Friday, Brookhaven hosts Lawrence County for a divisionvarsity doubleheader, starting at 5 p.m.

A triple by Reggie Smith and doubles by Scott Smith, BrooksHall, Grant McDonnieal and Adam Ogden directed Brookhaven’s 10-hitattack. Josh Anderson chipped in a single as the Panthers took a3-1 lead in the bottom of the first.

Natchez, powered by Drew Kossom’s homer, reduced its deficit to6-4 in the top of the fifth before the Panthers exploded for 4 moreruns in the bottom of the fifth.

Kossum was the losing pitcher. He struck out 3 and walked 8. TheBulldogs committed 5 errors.

Terry Wright doubled for Natchez. Mark Hayes and Michael Stewartsingled.
