Arrangements for Darlene Powell are Thursday, Feb. 28, at Riverwood Family Funeral Services. Visitation is 9 a.m. until noon. Graveside services will follow.

Mrs. Powell died Feb. 22, 2013, at her residence. She was born in Milan, Tenn. on June 10, 1945, to Virginia and Darwin “Pat” Bartow.

She worked as an administrative assistant at the Mississippi School of the Arts in Brookhaven, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brookhaven. Mrs. Powell was very outgoing in the community and engaged in many activities. She was a very giving person who was loved by everyone who knew her. She gave so much of herself to her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Clayton Powell; her sons, Chris Powell (Anna M.), Sean Powell (Brandi) all of Brookhaven, and Ryan Powell (Anna C.) of Petal; her sisters Pam Moye (Andy) of Hamilton, Ga. and Beverly Bartow-Stengel(Jim) of New York; grandchildren, Jordan (John) Buie, Kyle Powell, Riley Powell, Payton Powell, Jalen Powell, Stone Spann and Jackson Green; great-grandchild Rosalynn Buie; and niece Sarah Stengel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memorial to the Mississippi School of the Arts.

Charlene C. Smith

Funeral services for Charlene C. Smith of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Friendship Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 8:30 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Smith, 82, died Feb. 23, 2013, at her home. She was born in Brookhaven.

She was known to her grandchildren as “Cha Cha.” She was a loving mother and grandmother, who was always eager to help others.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Smylie Smith; father, Earl Callender; mother, Dovie Walker Callender; and daughter, Vicky Smith Baker.

Survivors are her daughter, Cindy S. Warren and husband, Ray, of Wesson; grandchildren, Kristy Cline and husband, Rusty, Michelle Laird and husband, Cahd, Kelly Jordan, and Jason Warren and wife, Lana; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Verdo Callender.
