Authorities ID accident victim

Authorities have identified the motorist killed in a Tuesdaymorning head-on collision on Highway 550.
Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris identified the motorist asFrank Gilmore, 52, of Brookhaven. Gilmore, who was employed withBarnard Construction Co., was heading to a job site in the Lormanarea, the coroner said.
No further details are being released concerning the earlyTuesday morning accident, said Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt.Rusty Boyd.
The accident happened around 5:56 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 550,about a mile west of Macedonia Road.
“I can’t release anything at this time,” Boyd said of theaccident. “It is still under investigation.”
According to reports from MHP, a 2000 GMC truck travelingeastbound crossed over into the westbound lane and collided withthe 1989 Buick Park Avenue driven by Gilmore. Boyd said the driverof the GMC truck was a 17-year-old juvenile, whose name is beingwithheld because he is a minor.
Firefighters were called to the scene of the accident Tuesday touse the Jaws of Life to remove both accident victims. Gilmore waspronounced dead at the scene, while the other victim wastransported to King’s Daughters Medical Center. His condition isunknown.
Gilmore’s funeral arrangements, which were incomplete thismorning, will be held under the direction of Williams Mortuary.
