Services for Hilton Bass of Smithdale are 10 a.m., Wednesday,Aug. 21, at Hartman Funeral Home in McComb with burial in JohnsonGrove Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Bass, 89, died Aug. 19, 2002, in Liberty. He was born inAmite County on Dec. 24, 1912, to Alex and Mada Westbrook Bass.

He was a farmer and also worked for Amite County. He was amember of the Church of Christ faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother, CliftonBass; and his sisters, Avis Laird, Vera Seal, Neva Henderson, andEva Burris.

Survivors are his wife, Myrtis Laird Bass of Smithdale; his son,Aubrey Bass of Bogue Chitto; his daughters, Lorraine Steele ofSmithdale and Joyce Johnston of McComb; his sisters, Rena Hosto ofChicago and Dorothy Graham of Zachary, La.; his brother, J. C. Bassof Smithdale; and nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, andseveral nieces and nephews.
