Services for Julius Pearl Smith, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m.Saturday, March 17, at Avery Chapel A.M.E. Church in Brookhavenwith burial in Bogue Chitto Cemetery. Williams Mortuary is incharge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mr. Smith, 76, died March 12, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born on March 9, 1931, to Frank Smith and OctaviaSmith.
He was a 1951 graduate of Alexander High School and alsoattended Prentiss Institute. He was a veteran of the United StatesArmy. He was retired from Jones Lumber Co., and Lincoln Lumber Co.He was a self-employed landscaper and salesman of arts and crafts.He had worked as a bus driver for the Pearl River Valley YouthIncentive Program. He was a member of Avery Chapel A.M.E.Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Lasalle Smith;his brother, Frank Smith Jr.; his sister, Laura Carter; hisfather-in-law, Jodie Holmes; his mother-in-law, Cora Holmes; hissister-in-law, Laverne Blackwell; and his brother-in-law, AldolphusHolmes.
Survivors are his wife, Emma Lee Smith, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Emelda Thompson and husband Ronnie, and Felissa N.Smith, all of Brookhaven, and Dorothy Williams, of Lumberton; hissons, Larry Rochelle Smith, Stephen Gregory Smith, Julius TerrellSmith, and Phillipe Alou Smith and wife Christine, all ofBrookhaven, Tysha Perez Smith and wife Tammy, of Buffalo, N.Y., andLetara Smith, of Las Vegas, Nev.; his sister, Lentee Smith, ofRaymond; his 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a hostof nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
