Wesson quarterback bags Region 6-2A MVP

Wesson senior quarterback Matt Smith was selected Most ValuablePlayer on the 2010 All-Region 6-2A Football Team by a vote ofregion coaches. Smith also played safety on defense as the Cobrasposted a 10-2 record under Coach Tommy Clopton and finishedrunners-up in the region
Derrick Lyles of Wesson and Gatlin Rhodes of Puckett were namedCo-Most Valuable Defensive Players. Desmond Anderson of Puckett wasnamed Most Valuable Offensive Player.
Loyd Star’s Marquis Hayes was selected Special Teams Player of theYear. Puckett was recognized as the region’s Coaching Staff of theYear.
Smith accounted for 1,774 yards total offense and 26 touchdowns. Hepassed for 1,036 yards and 14 TDs. He rushed for 738 yards and 12TDs.
Lyles (6-0, 240), a junior, accounted for 88 tackles as a defensivelineman.
Hayes, a senior, rushed for 726 yards and nine touchdowns.
