Storm delivers brief power disruptions

Wednesday night’s wind and rain causedminor problems in the Brookhaven area, but they were quickly dealtwith, city officials and power company representatives said.
Entergy representative Kenny Goza reported scattered power outages.The last remaining outage was addressed around 8 a.m. today.
Lucy Shell, speaking for the Magnolia Electric Power Association,said a downed tree damaged one circuit in the Norfield area.
The outage affected 830 of Magnolia’s members, Shell said. Crewsworked from 8 to 10 p.m. to restore the circuit.
Other scattered outages occurred across Magnolia’s coveragearea.
The Southwest Electric Power Association had a few outages in theBrookhaven area, but Southwest Public Relations Director AzaleaKnight said more problems occurred in Adams and Copiah counties.All Brookhaven area outages were corrected by 9 p.m. Wednesday, shesaid.
Downed tree limbs were responsible for some of the outages in thecity and knocked down a power line, city officials said.
Clifford Galey, Brookhaven-Lincoln County civil defense director,said high water was also reported on Schem Avenue and West CongressStreet.
“That normally happens in that area,” Galey said.
The high water receded quickly and caused no damage, according tocity officials.
