Mize overpowers Enterprise

The Enterprise Yellow Jackets ran into a buzzsaw Friday night,also known as the Mize Bulldogs. The visitors from Smith Countyshowed they are everything they are advertised to be with a 48-0win over the hosts on Harry Cole Field.

The loss dropped the Jackets to 3-6 on the season (2-5 in Region4-1A) while Mize remained perfect at 9-0 (7-0), ranked No. 4 in theAssociated Press Little 10 Prep Poll.

“We didn’t have enough heart or talent to stay with them,” saidEnterprise head coach Mac Bezet. “We quit on the third play (of thegame).”

The Bulldogs wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Afterforcing an Enterprise punt, Mize runningback reached paydirt on anine-yard run at the 8:41 mark to end a short four-play, 35-yarddrive. The first of six Joseph Adcock PAT kicks made the score7-0.

The score went to 14-0 after Trell Hagans intercepted a CoryEverett pass and returned it 17 yards for the score with 6:59 toplay in the quarter.

Mize made it 21-0 with 5:45 to play in the opening stanza on aone-yard run by Travis Autry. Autry’s second touchdown of thequarter, a 10-yard run with 1:49 to play, made the score 28-0 atthe end of the quarter.

Jasper Ducksworth opened the second quarter with a 60-yardtouchdown run to give the Bulldogs a 35-0 advantage. The first-halfscoring came to a merciful end with 7:23 to play. A three-yard runby Willie Jones ended a four-play, 12-yard march.

Mize scored the final points of the night with 8:58 to play inthe fourth quarter. A 24-yard run by Maurice Ducksworth ended a13-play, 85-yard drive. Adcock’s PAT was unsuccessful leaving thefinal score.

“We’re pleased with the win,” said Mize head coach KennyRobinson. “We got some big plays early and that got them (Jackets)down.”

Jasper Ducksworth led the Bulldogs’ offense with 105 rushingyards and a touchdown on five carries. Maurice Ducksworth had atouchdown and 65 yards on seven carries. Also scoring via the runwere Autry, Agee and Jones.

Agee completed one of two passes for 17 yards to Chris Sullivan.The Bulldogs picked up nine first downs during the game and losttheir only fumble. They were penalized five times for 35 yards.

Terrell May was held to only 30 yards rushing on 20 carries forthe Jackets. Also carrying the ball were Trey Herrington, AlexPowell and Vincent Smith.

Everett was able to complete only one of five passes to RodneyBarker for four yards. He was picked off twice.

Tate Ball punted four times for a 24-yard average. The Jacketshad six first downs on the night and lost three fumbles. They werepenalized three times for 15 yards.

Wayne Nations led the Enterprise defense with seven tackles.Colby Sullivan had five and a half stops with Chris Moak picking upfour and a half. Antonio Sanders had a fumble recovery.

Enterprise tries to return to the win column this week as theytravel to Dexter. Mize returns home to host Stringer.
