Services for Horace Edward Smith Sr. of Wesson are 1 p.m.Thursday, Dec. 23 at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inBeauregard Cemetery in Copiah County.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith, 83, died Dec. 18, 2004, at the Mississippi StateVeterans Home. He was born in Copiah County on Nov. 25, 1921, toOscar Joseph Smith and Miriam Edith Howington Smith.

He was a Navy veteran.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Walter J.Smith; and two sisters, Loretta Smith and Mattie Woods.

Survivors are his daughter, Miriam Elaine Hollier of Anchorage,Alaska; his sons, Horace Edward Smith Jr. of Franklin, Texas, SteveAllen Smith of Baton Route, La., and James “Jimmy” Smith of Wesson;his sisters, Mary Alice Weeks of Wesson, Velma Cariaway ofArkansas, and Georgia Smith of Brookhaven; eight grandchildren, andfour great-grandchildren.
