Services for Robert James “Bob” Allen, of Brookhaven, were heldat 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, at Riverwood Family FuneralService Chapel with burial in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery inBrookhaven.

Mr. Allen, 60, died March 17, 2008, at his residence. He wasborn on May 25, 1947, to James Ray Allen and Sallie Mae DelaughterAllen.

He was an oil field worker and a logger. He was a member of BigSprings Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sisters, AnnCase and Shirley Case.

Survivors are his wife, Joann Allen, of Brookhaven; his stepson,Mitchel Hedgepeth, of Jayess; his stepdaughters, Janet Reid andSandra Reeves, both of Monticello; his brother, Kenneth Allen, ofJayess; his sisters, Jane Jackson, Peggy King and Joyce Smith, allof Brookhaven; his five stepgrandchildren and fourgreat-stepgrandchildren.

Joe ‘Papa Joe’ Banks Jr.

Services for Joe “Papa Joe” Banks Jr., of Brookhaven, will beheld at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, at St. Paul MissionaryBaptist Church in Brookhaven with burial in Rose Hill MissionaryBaptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven. Williams Mortuary is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home,with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m.

Mr. Banks, 54, died March 22, 2008, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on March 6, 1954, to JoeBanks Sr. and Clementine Banks.

He was employed as a logger with Brad Smith Logging for morethan 30 years. He was a member of Watkins Memorial Chapel inBrookhaven, formerly Corinth A.M.E. Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, Alice MaeBanks and Carolyn Banks Brown.

Survivors are his wife, Pauline Bolds Banks, of Brookhaven; hissons, Micheal Bryant, Kerrick Bryant, Don Bolds and Samuel Johnson,all of Brookhaven; his five grandchildren; and many nieces,nephews, other relatives and friends.

Elaine W. Hutto

Services for Elaine W. Hutto, of Liberty, formerly of Meadville,will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 21, at O’Zion BaptistChurch in Meadville with burial in the church cemetery. FranklinFuneral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 until 9p.m., and on Friday from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Hutto, 79, died March 19, 2008, at Liberty Community LivingCenter. She was born on March 19, 1929, to James O. Wroten andWinnie Evans Wroten.

She was a librarian and teacher’s aide. She was a member ofO’Zion Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, M.L.Hutto; her son, Dale Hutto; and her brothers, Alton and JamesEdward Wroten.

Survivors are her son, Randy Hutto and wife Tricia, of Summit;her daughter, Vickie Fleischer and husband Sam, of Meadville; hersister, Evelyn Dillon, of Jackson; her sister-in-law, BettyForeman, of Meadville; and her nine grandchildren.

Services for Willard Glynn Newsom will be held at 1 p.m. onSaturday, March 22, at Center Street Church of Christ in Brookhavenwith burial in First Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello. LairdMortuary in Prentiss is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at First Baptist Churchin Monticello on Highway 84.

Mr. Newsom, 51, died March 17, 2008, at his workplace in GrandIsle, La. He was born in Monticello on April 2, 1956, to Dr. EllaSutton-Newsom Anderson.

He attended McCullough Junior High School in Monticello. Hemoved to Alcorn State, Miss., and attended Port Gibson High School,where he graduated. He attended Alcorn State University and earneda Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He was a chemist, andhad worked with Goldkist Corporation in Marks. He later wasemployed in the oil field in the Gulf. His career in the oilfieldspanned 28 years. He was a regular attendee at Sunday school andchurch on the Alcorn State University campus. He was added to theCenter Street Church of Christ in Brookhaven. He was a member ofthe Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

Survivors are his beloved wife of 28 years, Sallie P. Newsom;his sons, Derrick Hamilton, of Port Gibson, and Adrian Newsom, ofBrookhaven; his daughters, Danielle Nicole Newsom, Amber Sha’KaraNewsom and Amie Glynesha Newsom, all of Alcorn State; his mother,Dr. Ella Sutton Anderson; his sister, Elaine Bell and husband BobbyJoe; his grandchildren, Adryana Newsom, Danuell Lucas Jr. andDerrick Hamilton Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, otherrelatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Andre Lenoir, LaSalle Coleman, Johnny Carter,Rondal Hawkins, Larry Sutton and Dewayne Holloway.

Honorary pallbearers are Derrick Hamilton, Bobby Bell Jr.,Esther Hall, Adrian Newsom, Tommy Carter and George Sutton.
