WESSON – Business and college opportunities will be on the tableThursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. during Copiah-Lincoln CommunityCollege’s 18th annual Career Fair in the Mullen Gymnasium on theWesson Campus.

The fair, hosted by the college’s Career, Technical andWorkforce Education Division, is free and open to both the publicand students.

“This is all about finding out about job opportunities in thearea among some of the leading industries in their field,” saidRandy Costilow, workforce training specialist.

The fair will also provide opportunities to learn more about howto further an education at many of the state’s four-yearuniversities.

Costilow said the career fair will feature at least 45recruiters from area industries and colleges, including GreenbriarDigging, King’s Daughters Medical Center, Republic Finance, MillCreek Rehabilitation Center, State Bank and Trust and theMississippi Department of Corrections.

“They get an opportunity to see potential employees and makecontacts,” he said.

Attendees get career possibilities and learn how to preparethemselves academically for careers in those fields based on therecommendations of industry representatives, Costilow said.

The specialist said he did not have immediate access to recentfigures, but the number of students in some graduating classes inthe past to find employment at the fairs has been as high as 79 to80 percent.

“We have a relatively high number of students who have graduatedand walk right into these jobs,” Costilow said. “We encouragepeople to attend and see what opportunities there are inMississippi.”

Following the career fair, the college will host the Businessand Industry Appreciation Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. in the Billy B.Thames Conference Center.

The luncheon allows professors and industry representatives thechance to talk about the present and future needs of businesses inthose fields. The one-on-one visits with industry representativeshelp professors tailor their courses for the needs of the variousindustries.
