West Lincoln Lady Bears avenge loss to Franklin Co.

Despite making six errors, the host West Lincoln Lady Bearsmanaged to get the key hits when they needed them on their way tobeating the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 3-2 Friday night.Franklin County committed three errors as West Lincoln avenged an8-5 Monday loss at Meadville.
West Lincoln improved to 2-3 and Franklin County fell to 2-2.West Lincoln hosts McComb Tuesday.
“You should not make six errors and score three runs and stillwin the game,” said West Lincoln head softball coach Andrew Redd.”Three innings we had bases loaded and could not get them in . Weswung at some bad pitches.”
Posting the win was Shelby Lofton with no strikeouts and 4walks. Working in relief was Stephanie Smith. Taking the loss wasHeather Havard with 1 strikeout and 3 walks.
The Lady Bulldogs led 1-0 after the first inning. The Lady Bearsscored 2 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second.
After a scoreless third inning, both teams scored a run as thehosts took a 3-2 lead and held on for the win.
“We must be more selective on hitting pitches,” said FranklinCounty coach Dana Smith.
The Lady Bears were led by catcher Haley Ainsworth and firstbaseman Stephanie Smith with 2 singles apiece. Singling were HolliSmith, Ashley McCaffery, Hannah Knouse, Carrie Fauver and JulieCase.
Shortstop Kacey Smith doubled and singled for the Lady Bulldogs.Melissa McFarland and Destiney Dedeaux ripped 2 hits apiece.Hitting safely were Courtney Reid, Taylor Stewart, Kristin Oglesbyand Desiree Buie.
Junior varsity action
Franklin County posted a 5-0 win over West Lincoln in the JVgame. Buie, with 1 strikeout and 1 walk, got the win on the mound.Jessica Franklin took the loss with 1 strikeout and no walks.
At the plate, West Lincoln got a single from Kelsey Smith,Makayla Smith, Rebecca Reeves and Marissa Pruski.
Shaniquia Coleman led Franklin County with a pair of singles.Hitting safely were Katie Foreman, Vintrice Briggs, Karlee Mullins,Allison Hauer and Dedeaux.
