Friday night’s Division 7-1A showdown between the hostEnterprise Yellow Jackets and West Lincoln Bears proved to be nodifferent than their earlier encounter of the season.
Friday night’s Division 7-1A showdown between the hostEnterprise Yellow Jackets and West Lincoln Bears proved to be nodifferent than their earlier encounter of the season. Duringhomecoming, the fired up Jackets crushed the Bears for a 42-14victory.
Enterprise improved to 1-1 in the division and 5-2 overall onthe season. West Lincoln fell to 0-4 and 2-6 overall.
“We played a fairly good ball game,” said Enterprise assistantcoach Steve Leggett. “I feel like West Lincoln will be gettingbetter.”
Enterprise drew first blood on a 24-yard burst by Brent Boyd forthe touchdown. Shermaine Vaughn ran for the two points to give theJackets an early 8-0 lead.
West Lincoln marched right back on its next possession to scoreon a 43-yard burst from Stacy Fells. Cody Mitchell hit JeremyBranning for the two-point conversion and tied the game at8-all.
In the second quarter, the Jackets broke open the game with 28points for a 42-8 lead at halftime. Vaughn scored two touchdowns onruns of 31 and 28 yards. Reynald Skipper returned a 40-yardpass-interception for a TD. Quarterback Justin Kyzar connected toMonti Crotwell for a 10-yard TD before halftime. Kyzar connected toBoyd for a two-point conversion and Vaughn ran another two-pointconversion.
“We had a good offensive drive to score and I think we were on aroll but we have to play defense,” said West Lincoln head coach DonHolston.
West Lincoln came back in the second half to score on a 77-yardflea flicker play from Mitchell to Jacob Martin who lateraled toKallis Fells.
Vaughn was the top rusher for Enterprise with nine carries for130 yards.
Kallis Fells led West Lincoln with 12 rushes for 30 yards. StacyFells followed with eight carries for 70 yards.
Kyzar completed 6 of 10 passes for 84 yards and was interceptedonce for the Jackets. Skipper caught two passes for 37 yards.
Defensively, Zach Smith paced Enterprise with 13tackles. Skipper intercepted two passes.
West Lincoln got nine tackles from Cody Hall. MattDillon intercepted a pass.
Enterprise hosts Division rival Salem and West Lincolnhosts the North Pike junior varsity Thursday night. Kickoff is at7:30 p.m.
