Services for Ellis Leroy Callender of Bogue Chitto were 11 a.m.Saturday, Sept. 14, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burialin Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Callender, 84, died Sept. 12, 2002, at VeteransAdministration Hospital in Jackson. He was born in Lincoln Countyon June 5, 1918, to the late Marion and Annie Smith Callender.

He was a boiler maker and farmer. He was a member of Mt. MoriahBaptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers, Robert andVersie Callender.

Survivors are his wife, Colleen Callender of Bogue Chitto; sons,Ken Callender of McComb and Jeff Callender of Jackson; daughter,Sandra Burch of Harrisville; brother, Marion Callender Jr. ofHouston; sisters, Beulah Moncrief of Brookhaven, Rosa Thomas ofBaton Rouge, La., Edna Magee of Brookhaven, Ellen Frascino ofHouston, Texas, and Lillian Sommerfield of California; fourgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
