Chief McKee doing better

Brookhaven Police Chief Fred McKee is recovering “slowly butsurely” and could start rehabilitation treatments this week, hiswife Janice said today.
McKee remains in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at the UniversityMedical Center in Jackson after suffering a brain aneurysm onSaturday, March 3.
A temporary shunt put in to drain fluid from around the brainhas been removed, Janice McKee said, and brain pressure is normal.Also, the chief is doing better after coming down with a boutpneumonia, she said.
“He’s just improving very slowly,” Mrs. McKee said. “He’s awareof all his visitors.”
Janice McKee said the family appreciated all the prayers andvisitors who have come by to see the chief during hishospitalization.
“He’s doing really well with all he’s been through,” Mrs. McKeesaid.
The chief could begin rehabilitation treatments this week,although Mrs. McKee said she had not spoken with doctors to confirmthose plans. Rehabilitation will focus on the chief’s weakenedright side, she said.
“That will be the next step,” Mrs. McKee said.
