The host West Lincoln Lady Bears quest to make it to the Class 1state basketball playoffs came to an abrupt end Thursday night atJack Case Gymnasium.

In the quarterfinals, the Thomastown Lady Bulldogs eliminatedthe Lady Bears 59-41 in South 1A action. West Lincoln finished theseason with a 21-9 record.

In the other playoff games, East Oktibbeha beat Sebastopol52-35, McAdams whipped Pelahatchie 73-55 and Pisgah eliminated Weir64-44.

In tonight’s games, East Oktibbeha meets McAdams at 6 p.m. andPisgah faces Thomastown (27-6) at 7:30. Saturday, the consolationgame begins at 6 followed by the championship game at 7:30.

Thomastown led West Lincoln 13-9 in the first quarter thenpushed its lead to 29-19 at halftime. Going into the final from,the Lady Bulldogs commanded an 11-point, 44-31, lead over the LadyBears.

“We tried to apply pressure in the second half but they wereable to break it,” said West Lincoln coach Lane Young. “They werebig and athletic. We had some careless turnovers. We had a goodyear.

“Kayla Moak and Talashia Fells had a good year and showed seniorleadership. Hopefully, we can build off of this learning experiencefor next year. I also want to thank Steven Rushing for getting meback as early as he did.”

Hannah Knouse sparked West Lincoln with 14 points and 10rebounds for a double-double. Julie Case netted 12 points andpulled down 6 rebounds. Finishing with 7 points was TatiannaMarshall.

“We played hard defense and team ball,” said Thomastown coachBillie Jamison. “We had good transition on offense and No. 10(Marion Zollicoffer) set the tempo early for us.”

For the Lady Bulldogs, Marian Zollicoffer led with a game-high24 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Netting 14 points was BrittanyHenry. Following with 12 points was Joy Luckett. Pulling down 7rebounds was Viola Brown.

East Oktibbeha 52, Sebastopol 35

For East Oktibbeha, April Sykes fired in 21 points followed byCassandra Bradford with 17.

Nisheka Hughes and Nykyshia Griffin led Sebastopol with 10points apiece.

McAdams 73, Pelahatchie 55

McAdams was led by Kierra Gilmore with 22 points. Netting 19points apiece were LaChelle Kilbert and Tiffany Haynes.

Pelahatchie got 20 points from Alexis Boyd. Scoring 13 pointseach were Roxanne Lock and Allison Boyd.

Pisgah 64, Weir 44

Powering Pisgah with 24 points was KaNeshia Smith. Mary Ann Hillfollowed with 17 points.

Weir got 16 points from Alvionna Knox.
