James ‘Barry’ Bailey
Services for James “Barry” Bailey, of Clarksdale, are 10 a.m.Wednesday, Aug. 1, at National Funeral Home in Clarksdale withburial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mr. Bailey, 60, died July 29, 2007, at Greenwood Leflorehospital in Greenwood. He was born in Clarksdale on Feb. 11, 1947,to Verdie Mae and James C. Bailey.
He was plant manager with Strohm Manufacturing Co. He was amember of the Elks Club and Walnut Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brother, GaryBailey.
Survivors are his wife, Rita Bailey, of Clarksdale; hisdaughter, Cathy Bailey Talley, of Clarksdale; his son, Tim Bailey,of Rena Lara; his stepdaughters, Judith Funderburk and Ann MarieFunderburk, both of Clarksdale; his stepson, Michael Funderburk, ofClarksdale; his sisters, Alicia Regal, of Clarksdale, and NancyFalvey, of Brookhaven; his brother, Thomas Bailey, of Brookhaven;and his four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Charlene Moore Porter
Services for Charlene Moore Porter, of McCall Creek, are 2 p.m.Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive withburial in Riverwood Memorial Park. Dr. Harold Anderson and TravisSmith, great-nephew, will officiate.
Visitation is Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mrs. Porter, 81, died July 28, 2007, at her residence. She wasbeing cared for by extended family and special friends. She wasborn in Lincoln County on Sept. 18, 1925, to Jack Albert Moore andMaude Rushing Moore. She married John Orsey Porter Jr., of McCallCreek, in 1947. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage.
She was a 1944 graduate of Brookhaven High School. She retiredfrom her job with Bell Telephone Co., in 1980 following asuccessful career, working in Brookhaven, McComb, Jackson andNatchez. During her career, she enjoyed making friends with herco-workers and creating lasting friendships among them. Upon herretirement, her energies were focused on her family and churchfamily at McCall Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; and herbrothers, M.J. and Robert K. Moore.
Survivors include her nephew, John W. Moore and family, ofMcCall Creek; her sisters-in-law, Wanda Porter Smith and family, ofFulton, Md., JoAnn Porter Gill and husband Russell and theirchildren, of Avondale, La.; her cousins, James Dudley, Donald,Diane Harris, Martin and Larry Keene and their families, all ofBrookhaven. She is also survived by a large “adopted” family,including very special friends Joe and Ann Fortenberry, ofTylertown. These survivors expressed their love and caringthroughout her lifetime.
