BHS kickers beat Jim Hill

JACKSON — The Brookhaven Panther and Lady Panther soccer teamswrapped up season play Friday night on a winning note, capturing adoubleheader from the Jim Hill Tigers at Hughes Field.
The Brookhaven girls knocked off Jim Hill 1-0 and the Panthersnipped the Tigers 6-5.
“It is nice to end the season with a win,” said Brookhavensoccer coach Kevin Bower. “They did a good job. They played hard. Iwas proud of both teams.”
The Lady Panthers (7-11, 4-6) were led byseventh grade left forward Hannah Lowman who scored the winninggoal of the game.
“She (Lowman) was our leading scorer this year with 10 goals,”said Bower. “We played two goalies (Megan Tassey and Lizzi Wilson).They made some good saves.”
The Panthers (10-5, 8-4) had three playersscore two goals apiece. Junior right forward Tyler Alexander,center midfielder Giles Langston and center forward Guy Orr eachscored two goals.
“It went back and forth the whole night,” stated Bower.
Brookhaven led Jim Hill 3-2 at halftime.
“We had young teams in the girls and the boys,” added Bower.They worked hard all season. Our district was a lot bigger.” Bowermentioned the addition of teams from Terry, Jim Hill andWingfield.
This was the first time in four years for the Panthers to missmaking the state playoffs.
