Charles Melvin Butler

Services for Charles Melvin Butler, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Friday, April 20, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Brookhavenwith burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home onNatchez Avenue is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 10 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of theservice.

Mr. Butler, 65, died April 17, 2007, at his residence. He wasborn in Brookhaven on Jan. 19, 1942, to Sammy Butler and LillianRichardson Butler.

He had worked in mobile home sales in Louisiana, and withNations Pontiac in Brookhaven. He served in the United States ArmyReserve. He was an active member and deacon at Pleasant GroveBaptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher of theHarvesters Couples class and Discipleship class. He was presidentof the Lincoln County Baptist Men’s Association and president ofPleasant Grove Men’s Brotherhood. He was past president of theHurricane Lake Association.

Preceding him in death were his parents and hisgrandparents.

Survivors are his wife, Frances Butler, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Stacey Lynn Butler Lovette and husband Brad, of DenhamSprings, La., and Dana Suzanne Butler Smith and husband Jeff, ofBrookhaven; his stepdaughters, Denise Diane Taylor Penton, ofCovington, and Monica Ann Taylor Morris and husband Kevin, ofBranson, Mo.; his brothers, Gene Butler and wife Ellen, ofBrookhaven, and Sammie Lee Butler and wife Diane, of Baton Rouge,La.; his sister, Marie Butler Simoneaux and husband Doug, of DenhamSprings; his grandchildren, Corey Charles and Keith PatrickHickman, Madison and Kayleigh Lovette, Ryan and Carly Smith, Kane,Kasey and Kody Penton, and Brandon, Monique and Caleb Sharpe; andhis nieces and nephew, Tera Bourgouis, Jeff Simoneaux and TinaLambert.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant GroveBuilding Fund.

Levie Eley Jr.

Services for Levie Eley Jr., of Monticello, are 11 a.m.Saturday, April 21, at Bethany M.B. Church in Jayess with burial inthe church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Eley, 64, died April 15, 2007, at Countrybrook LivingCenter. He was born on Feb. 1, 1943, to Levie Eley Sr. and EffieEley.

He was retired.

Preceding him in death were his father; his brother, John HenryEley; his sister, Martha Lee Hill; and his son, Darrell Anton.

Mr. Lowe, 26, died April 13, 2007, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Chicago,Ill., on Sept. 6, 1980, to Valerie Lowe.

He was an auto mechanic. He was a member of the church. He was agraduate of Bogue Chitto Attendance Center and earned an associatedegree in auto mechanics from Southwest Mississippi CommunityCollege.

Preceding him in death were his godparents.

Survivors are his wife, Twanta Y. Lowe, of Summit; his mother,Valerie Lowe, of Chicago; his adopted daughter, Zena L. Lowe, ofSummit; his sisters, Crystal Adams, of Woodville, Kylene Lowe, ofSummit, and Chenille Morgan, of Chicago; his brothers, SidneyBerry, of Chicago, Maurice Jones, of Tylertown, and Elliott Lowe,of Summit; and his two aunts and one uncle.

Mr. Quinn, 64, died April 12, 2007, at Rankin County MedicalCenter in Brandon. He was born in McComb on Aug. 29, 1942, toCleveland Quinn Sr. and Margie M. Gordon.

He was retired from the United States Army, in which he served20 years. He attended Alcorn State University and Burgland HighSchool.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Dorsey C. Quinn, of Brandon; his son,Michael Quinn, of Brandon; his sister, Margie Cameron, ofBrookhaven, Mary Williams, of McComb, and Cornelius Dillion, ofByram; his brothers, Dr. Cleveland Quinn Jr., and Thaddeus Quinn,both of McComb, and Hollis Quinn, of Brookhaven; his threegrandchildren; and his nieces, nephews, other relatives andfriends.

Deloris ‘Dee’ Taylor

Services for Deloris “Dee” Taylor, of New Orleans, La., are 2p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Lillie Mae B.C. Church in Georgetownwith burial in New Hope Church Cemetery in Georgetown. WilliamsMortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Taylor died April 16, 2007, in New Orleans.

She was retired.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Vanilla Bush Whalen andEthel Owens; her husband, Marion Jesse “Shug” Taylor; and herbrothers, Sammie Brady, Leroy Brady, Charles Brady, Charles Owens,Manson Owens and L.D. Stewart.

Survivors are her son, Al Jesse Taylor; her daughters,Jacqueline Taylor, Delores Taylor and Irene Taylor; her brother,the Rev. Jesse Taylor; her sister, Elnora Brady Lewis; her 11grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and many otherrelatives.

Earleen Prestridge Williams

Mrs. Williams, 93, died April 15, 2007, at Jeff AndersonRegional Medical Center. She was born in Brookhaven on Aug. 3,1913, to John Bryant and Alice Prestridge.

She was a graduate of Whitworth College and a lifelong member ofFirst Baptist Church of Brookhaven.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, AltonLowery Williams, who died in 2001.

Survivors are her daughter, Judy Graham Wood and husband Dr.Eugene Wood, of Meridian; her grandson, Hardy Graham Jr. and wifeMonica, of Meridian; her granddaughter, Lee Graham Morphis andhusband Emmett, of Greensboro, N.C.; and five great-grandchildren,Kori, Graham, Lauren, Lilli and Liam.
