Services for Katie Beard Davis of Wesson are 2 p.m., Friday,April 30, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial in SylvarenaChurch Cemetery in Wesson.

Mrs. Davis, 87, died April 29, 2004, Haven Hall Health CareCenter. She was born in Jefferson County on July 24, 1916, to PercyCalvin Beard and Lelia Dungan Beard.

She was a homemaker. During World War II, she worked in therationing office in Fayette, and she was the assistant postmasterin Fayette. In 1947, she and her husband, Phillip, moved to Wesson,where they owned and operated a family farm and raised theirchildren. She was a member of Sylvarena Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Phillip L.Davis; a son, Robert H. Berry; two sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors are her daughters, Phyillis Holloway of Florence,Katie D. Wilcher of Philadelphia, and Dorothy D. Kimble of BossierCity, La.; her sons, David L. Davis of Baton Rouge, La., and DwightMoody Davis of Wesson; seven grandchildren; sevengreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
