Sheriff arrests man following chase on foot

Lincoln County Sheriff Wiley Calcote said he never thought hisstop to provide a warning to a man would result in a 15-minute footchase through the streets of Brookhaven.
“We were just going to stop and talk to him because he has someold fines in Justice Court,” Calcote said. “We just wanted to tellhim the warrants would be issued soon if those fines weren’tpaid.”
Instead, Larry Joe Bracey, 51, address unavailable, allegedlybolted when Calcote approached him at the intersection of CenterStreet and Old Brook Road around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Bracey was captured by Calcote, assisted by other officers,after a 15-minute foot chase through the south Brookhavenneighborhood.
Bracey has been charged with failure to obey a law enforcementofficer.
“Now that we have him, they have put those warrants in place,”Calcote said.
Calcote said he expects Bracey to make bond “soon.”
