Services for John A. Sartin of Brookhaven are 11 a.m., Tuesday,Dec. 31, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with burial inCarver Heights Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday from noon until 6 p.m., with family hourfrom 6-7 p.m., at Tyler Funeral Home.
Mr. Sartin, 66, died Dec. 27, 2002, at his residence. He wasborn in Brookhaven on Oct. 27, 1936, to Genoa Sartin Sr. and LavolaMcDaniel Sartin.
He was an entrepreneur in several businesses as well as aninsurance agent. He was a graduate of Alexander High School andSouthern University in Baton Rouge, La. He was a member of St. PaulM.B. Church, where he served as a trustee and financial secretary.He was an army veteran. He was a member of Alpha Phi AlphaFraternity, Inc., and the Elks Lodge. He served as the BrookhavenHousing Authority Commissioner.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brothers, GenoaSartin Jr. and Ralph Sartin.
Survivors are his wife, Gwendolyn Sanders Sartin of Brookhaven;his sons, Keith Sartin of Redlands, Calif., and Kermit Sartin ofBrookhaven; his daughter, Demetria Sartin of College Park, Ga.; hissister, Hazel Dinkins of Baton Rouge, La., and a host ofgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
