Lady Wolves sweep East Miss.

SCOOBA — The Co-Lin Lady Wolves fastpitch softball team keptits perfect winning streak intact after sweeping a doubleheaderfrom the East Mississippi Community College Lady Lions Tuesday.
Co-Lin won the opener 10-6 and shut out East Mississippi 9-0 inthe five-inning finale.
The Lady Wolves (6-0) play Friday and Saturday in the MeridianTournament.
“We got good jumps, stole bases at opportune times and playedpretty smart,” said Co-Lin fastpitch coach Allen Kent.”Offensively, we relaxed and hit it hard all day. On defense, westayed on our toes and made all the plays in the second game.”

The Lady Wolves trailed the Lady Lions 3-1 in the first inning.Co-Lin came back with four runs in the top of the second for a 5-1lead. The visitors added four more runs for a 9-3 lead. In thefinal two innings East Miss. outscored Co-Lin 2-1 as the visitorsheld on for the win.
Kayla Crochet (3-0) was the winning pitcher, with 9 strikeouts,4 walks and 3 earned runs on 6 hits.
“Kayla did not have her best today,” said Kent. “We didn’t helpher out much defensively. She battled and kept us in it until ouroffense kicked in.”
Annie Selman powered Co-Lin with a 7th-inning home run and asingle. Lauren Smith collected three hits, a stolen base and scoredtwice. Annie Selman went 2 for 4 with a walk, 4 runs scored and 3stolen bases. Kady King had 2 singles, 3 RBI and 2 stolen bases.Erin Douglas singled twice and had 1 RBI. Emily Langley added asingle, stolen base and a run forced.

In the finale, Douglass (1-0) posted the no-hitter in fiveinnings. Douglass fanned 8 batters , walked 2 and hit 1 batter.
“Erin really had it working today,” said Kent. “It was fun towatch. She stayed ahead in the count. She hit her spots and usedher change-up very effectively.”
Langley led the hitting attack with a double, 2 singles, 2RBI, 3stolen bases and 2 runs scored for Co-Lin. Candace Braxton added 2singles, 2 RBI, a stolen base and a run scored. Following 2 singlesand an RBI was Caston. Meleah Brown doubled. Smith and Crotcheteach singled.
