WESSON – Co-Lin men’s coach Dennis Sims expects a lot fromcenter Christian Marshall and forward Greg Truvillion. Thursdaynight in Mullen Gymnasium, they delivered.

Truvillion pumped in 23 points and pulled down 12 rebounds andMarshall fired in 18 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and blocked 2 shotsto lead the Wolves to a 76-57 win over the Northeast Tigers in aphysical contest.

The Wolves improved to 7-3 with the win. The Tigers fell to1-10.

In their previous encounter at Northeast on Dec. 9, Co-Linescaped with a 67-58 victory .

On the down side, both teams had trouble protecting thebasketball. Co-Lin and Northeast combined for 52 turnovers, theWolves leading with 30.

Marshall, a 6-10 sophomore from Jackson, had 10 of his 18 pointsin the first 11 minutes of the game, helping the Wolves to a 22-8lead at the 9:47 mark in the first half. Truvillion, a 6-10sophomore from Lansing, Mich., scored 8 first-half points.

Co-Lin led Northeast 40-16 following a putback by Truvillionwith 1:40 left. The Wolves got sloppy and allowed the Tigers to cutthe deficit to 21-points, 40-19, at halftime.

“In the first half, we played well,” said Co-Lin men’s coachDennis Sims. “We got the ball out and pushed it with our half courtoffense. In the last 2 to 3 minutes of the first half, we mademental and physical errors. We played 12 guys in the firsthalf.”

Northeast played persistent full-court pressure on Co-Lin in thesecond half. Sophomore guard Charles Lewis’ layup gave the Wolvestheir biggest lead of the night, 22 points, 44-22, with 18:40 leftin the game. But the Tigers never quit.

The Tigers cut the deficit to 10 points, 52-42 with 8:52 leftand 54-44, with 8:23 remaining but never could get any closer. TheWolves responded with a big play to push the lead back up.

“In the second half, Northeast picked it up and got after us,”added Sims. “They were consistent. Northeast got a lot of pointsoff our turnovers. We played a lot better here than there.”

Lewis finished the game with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and7 assists. Corey Landon had 8 assists. Zach Thomas collected 5rebounds.

The Tigers, coached by David Robbins, was led by forward TerryKing and guard Jeremy Anderson with 13 points apiece. Anderson made5 steals and had 4 assists.
