Copiah Academy slugs BA girls

GALLMAN — The Copiah Academy Lady Colonels knocked off theBrookhaven Academy Lady Cougars 11-5 Tuesday night in District 4-AAfastpitch softball action. The Cougars, coached by Ricky Allen,fell to 5-11 on the season.
Copiah, coached by Terry Bauer, improved to 20-15 with thewin.
Kimberly Bridges (9-4) got the win. The losing hurler was LayneJordan (3-8) with 2 strikeouts and 8 walks.
For Brookhaven, Shelby Farmer led the attack with 3 singles.Layne Jordan singled twice. Anna Jolly, Anna Katelyn Mangold,Nicole Smith, Elizabeth Terry and Lauren Jordan singled.
Ripping 2 hits apiece for the Colonels were Megan Johnson, MaryLack, Lori Baham and Cortney Traxler. Bridges doubled.
“I felt like we played well,” said Bauer. “We played as well aswe can play. Brookhaven has some good players. They have come along way.”
Brookhaven committed 4 errors to Copiah’s 3.
Copiah is at Jackson Prep Saturday.
In the junior varsity game, the Colonels rolled to a 9-0victory over the Cougars.
