Mary Claudell Jones
Services for Mary Claudell Jones, of the McCall Creek community,will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at Ebenezer UnitedMethodist Church in McCall Creek with burial in the churchcemetery. The Revs. Joe Felder and Aaron Lamb will officiate. JonesFamily Funeral Services in McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church, and onTuesday from noon until the time of the service.
Mrs. Jones, 72, died May 31, 2008, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. She was born on Jan. 9, 1936, inFranklin County, to Thomas Eli Cupit and Ammie Burris Cupit.
She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Sheworked at the Kellwood Company in Liberty for 17 years, and servedas a house mother at the Methodist Children’s home in Jackson. Shewas a dorm mother at Wood College in Mathiston, where she receiveda degree in ministry and was licensed as a Methodist minister. Forthe past few years, she worked at the Medicaid office in Brookhavenuntil retiring in 2004. She was a very loving and generous person,who was always looking for ways to help others.
Preceding her in death were her father; her husband, ReginaldRoger Jones; her brother, Clayton Cupit; her grandson, AndrewJones; and one infant granddaughter.
Survivors are her mother; her sons, Milton Jones and wife Judy,and Lemuel Jones and wife Jane, all of McCall Creek, and Glyn Jonesand wife Valerie, of Bogue Chitto; her brothers, W.L. Cupit andwife Donna, and Tommy Cupit and wife Sharon, all of Brookhaven; hersisters, Doris Dillion and husband Harold, of Bude, Nina DaleGolmon and husband Kenneth, of McCall Creek, and Judy Smith ofGonzales, La.; her sister in-law, Shirley Cupit; her grandchildren,Ellis Jones, Kim Jones, Chris Jones, Misty Stogner and husbandMike, Kevin Jones, Nicholas Jones and Amie Jones; and hergreat-granddaughter, Laila Stogner; with a host of nieces andnephews.
Pallbearers are Tommy Cupit, W.L. Cupit, Ellis Jones, KevinJones, Nicholas Jones and Chris Jones.
Honorary pallbearers are Harold Dillion and Kenneth Golmon.
Raymond Lee Myers Sr.
Services for Raymond Lee Myers Sr., of Raymond, will be held at1 p.m. on Monday, June 2, at the chapel at Lakewood South FuneralHome in Jackson with burial at Lakewood Memorial Park South.
Mr. Myers, 70, died May 30, 2008, at St. Dominic-JacksonMemorial Hospital in Jackson. He was born on June 4, 1937, inWilmot, Ark., to A.R. Myers and Emmie McCain Myers. He was rearedin Parkdale, Ark., where as a young adult he worked as aphysician’s assistant until he enlisted in the United States Navy.He proudly served his country from 1955 until 1959. He wasstationed in Bethesda, Md. It was there that he met and married thelove of his life, Patricia Fairfax. They married in 1955 and movedto Jackson and made a home and started a family.
In the early ’60s, Raymond opened Myers Auto Supply where hediligently worked until recently. He loved to work in his yard andwas an avid Mississippi State sports fan. More than anything,Raymond was a faithful and devoted husband and a loving father,grandfather and brother.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife, PatriciaFairfax Myers.
Survivors are his children, Raymond Lee Myers Jr. and his wifeKelly, of Terry, Suzanne Carmody, of Lakeland, Tenn., BarbaraMcBeth and her husband Rob, of Brookhaven, and Kathy Hilton and herhusband Monty, of Byram; his brother Loyd Myers and wife Donna, ofDermott, Ark.; his sisters, Veda Sivils and husband Leon, ofMonroe, La., and Carolyn Lewis and husband Jerry, of Pearl; andgrandchildren Ryan and Sydney McBeth, Jack and Emma Grace Hilton,Mason and Rachel Myers and Caroline Carmody; and sister-in-law andbrother-in-law Madeline and Frank Filipovich.
