BA teams ax Oak Forest

Brookhaven Academy took four District 4-AA games from Oak ForestAcademy Tuesday night in John R. Gray Gymnasium. ln varsity action,the Lady Cougars held off a late charge by the Lady Yellow Jacketsbefore winning 51-44 to improve to 17-8 overall and 6-2 in districtplay.
The Cougars raced out of the gate and never looked back as theysmoked Oak Forest 74-29. Brookhaven led 57-8 at the half.
On Thursday at Mississippi College in Clinton, the BA girlsplays Benton Academy at 5:30 and the Cougars meet Jackson Prep at6:45.
Brookhaven 51, Oak Forest 44
Guard Betsy Lynch poured in a game-high 19 points, plus fourassists and three steals to lead Brookhaven to the victory.
Kelli Snider added 11 points and four steals of her own insupport. Snider and Kellie Brady led Brookhaven on the boards with5 rebounds a piece.
Oak Forest battled Brookhaven to a tie at 19 at the half but theLady Cougars outscored Oak Forest 23-14 to help secure the win.
Chelsea Butler led Oak Forest with 15 points. Lindsey Oliverfollowed with 13 points.

Corey Dickerson led Brookhaven with a game-high
14 points as Brookhaven went on a 32-2 run to end the firstquarter. The Cougars shot a blistering 67 percent from the floorfor the game.
Jerrod Rayborn and Alan Gray scored 12 points apiece in supportof Dickerson as the Cougars put four players in double figures.Jeremy Winborne added 11 points, four assists, four steals and fourrebounds.
The Cougars improved to 19-1 overall and 8-0 in
district play.
Randall Miller led Oak Forest with 7 points. Daniel Casey andClifton Speed followed with 6 points each
Junior High Results
In junior high girls action, Brookhaven dumped Oak Forest 43-11,led by Kristin Kimble’s 11 points. Hannah Hickman added 9 pointsand Nicole Smith 8.
Brookhaven improved to 14-2 overall and 7-1 in
district play.
Ashley Neal and Jessica McClendon each scored 4 points for OakForest.
In the boys game, Brookhaven blasted Oak Forest 58-21, poweredby Joshua Winborne’s 14 points. Trip Jolly had 9 points and JakeReed 7.
Oak Forest was led by Brock Banes with 12 points.
