Mickey Elizabeth Dougherty Hale

Mrs. Mickey Elizabeth Dougherty Hale died on July 11, 2010, atKing’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. She was 83.
Mrs. Hale was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mike Dougherty,of Memphis, Tenn. She was born and raised in Memphis and was agraduate of Rhodes College, formerly known as Southwestern atMemphis, with degrees in English Literature and Art. She was agifted artist with many people throughout the South havingpaintings in their homes that she has done. She also had severalart exhibitions of her work in Brookhaven, Corinth andIndianola.
Besides being an artist, Mrs. Hale was an avid and accomplishedbridge player holding the level of Life Master since 2002.
She was the wife of the late Rev. Edward S.T. Hale, former rectorof the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Brookhaven, Corinth andIndianola. She cherished her life as the wife of an Episcopalpriest for nearly 61 years.
Mickey would like to be remembered for her faith in God, hertremendous love of the Episcopal Church, and most especially as thematriarch of her family who she loved so much and was so proudof.
She is survived by a daughter, Tracy Hale Bell and husband, Steve,of Madison; and a son, Edward Michael Hale and wife, Michele, ofOcean Springs. She is also survived by four grandchildren: JenniferCounts, William Bell, Mary Elizabeth Bell, and Haven Hale Lyons;and also by her four great-grandchildren: Kiegan Marek, ReeceCounts, Cannon Counts, and Harbour Lyons. She also leaves a cousin,Patsy Dougherty, of Memphis, and several relatives in Union City,Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husbandof nearly 61 years, the Rev. Edward S. T. Hale, who died inSeptember 2009.
Visitation for Mrs. Hale will be held on Wednesday, July 14, fromnoon until 1:30 p.m. at Canon Hall at the Episcopal Church of theRedeemer in Brookhaven with the funeral service at 2 p.m. Burialwill follow at Riverwood Memorial Park.
