Woman dies in late night accident

A Bogue Chitto woman was killed on her way home from work in atwo-vehicle accident on Union Street Extension Thursday night,authorities said.
Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris said Kimberly Ann Martin,28, was pronounced dead at the scene after her 1998 Honda Accordwas struck by a Ford Explorer coming off the exit ramp fromInterstate 55 Thursday around 11:15 p.m.
The Explorer, which officials said bore a Copiah County tag,contained four juveniles, including a 17-year-old male, an18-year-old female and a 14-year-old male. The fourth juvenile, amale, was gone when authorities reached the scene.
The three juveniles at the scene of the accident were taken toKing’s Daughters Medical Center by ambulance, but information ontheir conditions was unavailable.
McMorris said he’d been told by witnesses that Martin waswestbound in the right lane on Union Street when the driver of theExplorer, which officials said was northbound on I-55, appeared tolose control and crashed into her vehicle.
The Explorer struck a road sign as well as crossing three lanesbefore colliding with Martin’s car, officials said.
“The wreck is still under investigation,” said McMorris. “How helost control or if he was speeding I don’t know yet.”
Brookhaven Assistant Police Chief Nolan Jones said the accidentreport was incomplete Friday morning.
Martin is survived by a husband and two small children, McMorrissaid. Information on funeral arrangements for Martin wasunavailable.
