Lady Cobras slither past Enterprise

Wesson coach Ron Kessler’s search for a consistent pitcher metwith success Monday. Junior right-hander Nikki McCardle kept theball in the strike zone and his Lady Cobras defeated Enterprise 7-3in slowpitch softball action. McCardle (1-0) fanned 1 batter andwalked 2.
“We’ve had problems with our pitching,” said Kessler whose teamimproved to 4-7 on the season. “We finally found somebody who canthrow strikes.
“We also played good defense and we are hitting the ballbetter,” he added. “Nikki pitched well in practice lastweekend.”
Enterprise (6-6), coached by Steve Sasser, plated 3 first-inningruns to gain a deadlock. His Lady Yellow Jackets were unable toscore again in the 7-inning game while Wesson scored twice in thefifth to lead 5-3.
At the plate, Wesson finished with 12 hits. The Cobras were ledby eighth grade shortstop Christina Fink who went 4-for-4,including a double and 3 singles.
Second baseman Ann Shelby Davis and right-centerfielder DallasJackson both went 2-for-3, with a single and a double. McCardlechipped in a triple. Amanda Price, Stacey Lowery and Leah Greersingled.
Wesson’s Thursday game at Bassfield has been canceled. TheCobras resume play Saturday at Franklin County, playing a JV gameat noon and a varsity test at 1 p.m.
Nicole Sandifer (6-6) absorbed the loss. She had 1 strikeout and1 walk.
The Jackets accounted for 6 hits, led by Samantha Richardson’sdouble. Ann Marie Cole, Katie Hux, Lindsey Everett, Ashley Greerand Sarah Burke singled.
Enterprise plays Salem at Holmes Water Park in Tylertown today.The JV game starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6.
JV Results
In the junior varsity game, Enterprise defeated Wesson 15-2.Lacy Orr (6-0) was the winning pitcher.
Two hits by Karla Beth Hux, Laken Rawls, Chynna Coghlan and Orrdirected the win.
