Funeral services for Dudley E. McCullough, of Ruth, were 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb, with burial with masonic rights in Shady Grove Cemetery. Bro. Joe Boone officiated.
Mr. McCullough, 86, died Sept. 13, 2012, at his home. He was born on July 3, 1926, to D.W. “Webb” and Anna Ruth Edwards McCullough.
He was retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service. His family was proud of his service on the USS Lake Champlain; he was serving on the ship when they picked up Mr. Allan Shepard after his space flight on May 5, 1961. After Mr. McCullough’s service in the Navy, he then worked as an automotive mechanic for 25 years. He was a mason with the Topisaw Lodge #413 F.&A.M. and served as a past master. He was a past patron of the Topisaw chapter #326 Order of the Eastern Star.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Lucille E. Williams; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Rose White McCullough; two brothers, D.W. McCullough Jr. and Rex Raymond McCullough; and a sister, Laurayne Gunnell.
Survivors are his son, Roger E. McCullough and wife, Shirley, of Tylertown; sister, Martha Jo Zachary, of Denham Springs, La.; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Shawn Edwards, Delane Edwards, Jamie Davis, Bryan Cancienne, Melvin Stinson and Brandon Graves.
Memorials may be made to the Topisaw Lodge #413 in Lincoln Co.
