Alma Greer Reeves passed away on April 20, 2010, at GoldenLiving Center in Brookhaven. Mrs. Reeves was 83 years old.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 21, from 6 until 8 p.m.at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive, and on Thursday, April22, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon in thechapel. Burial will follow in Easthaven Cemetery.

Alma Reeves was born on Oct. 13, 1926, in Brookhaven, to FrankGreer and Donis Hammack Greer.

A lifelong resident of Brookhaven and Lincoln County, Alma Reevesgraduated from Brookhaven High School in 1944. Upon graduation fromBrookhaven High, Mrs. Reeves was engaged to John B. Reeves and theywere married on Nov. 14, 1946, following his return from servicewith the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.

Mrs. Reeves was employed with State Bank and Trust Company,Brookhaven Bank and Trust Company, Dr. J.H. Stribling, DDS, ofBrookhaven, and Brookhaven Internal Medicine Clinic, but it was inher role as wife, mother and homemaker that Alma Reeves excelled.The mother of three children, John B. Reeves Jr., of DenhamSprings, La., Wanda R. Fernald, of Brookhaven, and Judy Flanagan,of Athens, Ga. Alma Reeves devoted her life’s work as a homemakerto the health, growth, and well being of her family. Her devotionto her husband and children was surpassed, only, by her love of Godand dedication to service in His name. As a member of First UnitedMethodist Church in Brookhaven, Alma was active in United MethodistWomen and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Alma Reeves served inmany other ways without title or note, but always to the glory ofGod. In later years, she reveled in the love and affection of herseven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Alma Reeves is survived by her husband, John B. Reeves; her son,John B. Reeves Jr. and his wife Deborah; daughters, Wanda R.Fernald and her husband Joseph, and Judy R. Flanagan and herhusband James; her seven grandchildren and fourgreat-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United MethodistMission Fund, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the charity of one’schoice.
