Overcoming addiction theme of month

Zeus Cooper Jr. kept the music pumping through the halls of NewHaven Recovery Center Wednesday and keeping everyone mindful ofwhat they holding a reception to celebrate: Recovery.
Cooper was a patient at New Haven years ago when he made hisrecovery from cocaine and alcohol.
And now, 14 years later, “I’ve never left,” he said.
Cooper, who also works for Wal-Mart, is the house supervisor atNew Haven, a testament to the home away from home the recoverycenter becomes to those who enroll.
“I’m also a mixology genius,” Cooper joked as he put another CDin the system for his fellow New Haven alumni to enjoy.
The reception at New Haven was for current residents, employees,alumni and friends to gather and enjoy each other’s company, aswell as to celebrate September as Drug Addiction Recovery AwarenessMonth.
