BA wins opener, then drops two

LIBERTY – The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars provided a strong effort in the MAIS AA South State playoffs. The Lady Cougars defeated Central Private 4-0, but lost two straight in the double elimination tournament, falling to Park Place Christian Academy 11-2 and Bowling Green 9-4 Monday in fastpitch softball action.
“I am very proud of my girls,” said BA coach Kaylin Lofton. “They worked hard all season to get to the south state playoffs. This was a great experience, and we look forward to the future as we hope to make a return trip to south state next year.”
The Lady Cougars (11-16, 5-3) conclude their season on a successful note after a two-year absents from the playoffs. BA future looks bright as they look forward to next year.
BA 4, Central Private 0
The Lady Cougars came out strong in the South State opener and blanked the Lady Rebels in six innings of action.
Allison Livingston was the winning pitcher with one strikeout and two walks.
Emily Danchdover suffered the loss for Central Private with no strikeouts and three walks.
K.K. Jordan provided the offensive charge to lead BA with two inside the park home runs and a double. Morgan Walker and Livingston hit safely.
Park Place 11, BA 2
Juliet Larri pitched the win for Park Place with two strikeouts and no walks.
Livingston absorbed the setback for the Lady Cougars in Game Two with five strikeouts and six walks.
Maura Dunaway and Livingston were the offensive leaders for BA with a pair of singles. Anna Grace Covington ripped a double and Jordan singled.
Bowling Green 9, BA 4
Alex Rae Smith suffered the setback for the Lady Cougars with no strikeouts and six walks. Livingston (1K, 1BB) pitched in relief.
Dunaway directed BA at the plate with three singles. Covington contributed a double and a single. Jordan and Livingston had a pair of singles. Olivia Rushing and Amanda Rushing hit safely.
