Winter storm watch issued for Lincoln County

BROOKHAVEN — A winter storm watch is in effect for Lincoln County. The National Weather Service issued the watch as below freezing temperatures and snow is expected in the coming days.
Temperatures will first take a nose dive starting Saturday evening at sundown. The low tonight will be 30. Sunday those temperatures will reach a high of 41 but drop off to 19 degrees.
Monday will have a high of 38 and a low of 22. It is Monday night when the first winter precipitation is supposed to start for Lincoln County and will continue into Tuesday.
NWS Jackson warns heavy snow is possible with up to 4 inches of accumulation in parts of southern Mississippi. Roads and bridges will become slick and dangerous to drive on.
People are urged to stay indoors under the winter storm watch from late Monday night to Tuesday evening. If you go outside, be sure to wear layers.
There is a chance of sleet with the snow which could have impacts to power supplies.
