NEW SIGHT — One person died in a trailer home fire on Newman Trail Monday evening. The fire is under investigation.

Volunteer Firefighters from Lincoln County and Copiah County responded to the blaze. Firefighters and a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy first on scene reported heavy smoke showing and a fully engulfed trailer.

Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency Director Chris Reid helped with the initial fire suppression and coordinated the work of volunteer fire fighters. He checked on fire fighters as the night wrapped up.

The call for the fire came around 4:20 p.m. and crews did not completely clear the scene until after 8 p.m.
