BROOKHAVEN — Two local youth hunters in Lincoln County were able to harvest mature deer this Thanksgiving.

Kori Peets killed a buck on Thanksgiving while Cam Peets killed a doe.

So far this season, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks reports 36 deer harvests have been reported in Lincoln County and 1,452 deer harvests statewide have been reported online through Game Check. Deer movement and thus harvest increases as the peak rut gets closer and the season goes on.
