BROOKHAVEN — Widespread frost could continue over the next few days. NWS Jackson forecasts frost to occur Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night.
Frost is when a deposit of small white ice crystals form on the ground of other surfaces due to freezing cold temperatures. Lows could reach 29 degrees tonight, 31 Sunday night and 30 Monday night.
There is a chance of rain Wednesday through Friday. The best chance of rain is Wednesday night with a 60 percent chance. Thursday has a 60 percent chance of rain as well and possibly thunderstorms before a 40 percent chance of rain Friday.
The US Drought Monitor shows 53 percent of Lincoln County remains under abnormally dry conditions. Maps also show the area needs about three to four inches of rain before returning to normal soil moisture levels.
Relative humidity is forecast to be fairly low in the coming days. Paired with the low humidity, Lincoln County has a moderate wildfire danger rating.
At this time there are no other weather hazards or warnings issued by the NWS Jackson Office or the National Hurricane Center as the hurricane season comes to an end.
