Zachary Lane “Zach” Mohon, age 29, of Brookhaven, Mississippi passed away on November 5, 2024. He was born in Natchez, Mississippi to Kristi Mohon and Mitchell Hugh Smith.
From an early age Zach was always a caring and loving person. He was a moma’s boy. He loved making others smile and he would give his last dollar to anyone who needed it. Zach loved fishing every chance he got. He was not always the easiest person to be around but he always made you smile. Zach loved his kids and he loved his little brother JD, and his family. He called his little sister his “ride or die” and she called him her Samari. Zach also collected baseball cards, stamps, and coins. Zach was great with little kids. He would get on their level and play with them. Later in his life Zach was doing random things for people and when asked why he would simply say that God led him to do it. If I could say the best way to describe Zach as a person, he was energetic, free-spirited, smart, loyal, loving, and creative. Those who knew Zach can tell you that he was a faithful friend.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Cheryl Juanita Smith and Larry Mohon; paternal grandfather, Mitchell Smith; great-grandparents, J.C. and Myrtis Smith, Robert and Ola Pearl Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh L. Boyte Sr.; uncles, Jeffrey Glenn Laird and SGT (Ret) Robert Jacob “Jake” Mohon, and Michael Smith; a great-aunt, Helen Jolene Smith; and four close friends, Michael King Jr., Purvis Smith, Kara Darby, and Kalob Corbin.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving mom, Kristi Lane Mohon; his father, Mitchell Hugh Smith; his children Kara De’Lane Mohon; sisters, Kristin Leigh Smith (Derek Carson) and Alexis Antizzo (Glenn) of Clinton; brothers, JD Mohon “Uncle Bubba” and Kody Smith of Laurel. He also leaves behind an uncle, Dewayne Mohon McCaffery (Danna); two aunts, Amy Mohon Hoover (Travis) and Christine Crawford (Jack); along with a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones.
The family will receive visitors at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Friday Evening, November 15, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will take place at Brookhaven Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2024 with graveside services following in Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS.
