The search is ongoing for a 73-year-old woman last seen in Franklin County.
Lottie Elaine Myers, a resident of Summit, was reported missing after being last seen Monday, Oct. 28, around 1:45 p.m. on Willis Cotton Road, driving south in her 2015 silver Jeep Cherokee.
The vehicle was found Tuesday morning on McCall Creek Road close to Wright’s Bethesda Methodist Church, locked and with no signs of foul play, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Myers is described as a white female, 5-feet 5-inches tall and 170 lbs., last seen wearing faded denim capris and a gray t-shirt. She is said to suffer from dementia. Witnesses who saw Myers since Monday reported she said she was “fine” and did not need help, and was looking for her husband.
Volunteer Buddy Godbold said several tracking dogs have been employed to help locate Myers, and were able to track her for a mile or so on Choctaw Road. At least 50 people have been involved each day in the search, Godbold said, with the command center located at Wright’s Church. FCSO expressed thanks to all the law enforcement agencies in multiple counties, two helicopter crews using infrared, the Mississippi Fire Service, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks, and every volunteer who has assisted.
Myers is expected to be walking quickly, as she is known to be a power walker, and may refuse assistance.
