Wesson had little competition in winning the Region 7-3A titles in both the girls’ and boys’ races on Thursday at Choctaw Trails for coach Vance Windom. The Wesson girls team beat out Jefferson County and the Wesson boys team fielded no competition in their race as all 11 competitors in the event were Cobras.
The top seven finishers and their place and time for the Wesson girls were eighth grader Kennedi Johnson (2nd, 25:06), eighth grader Anne Peets (3rd, 26:13), freshman Eden Hall (4th, 27:01), senior Ella Logan (5th, 27:08), eighth grader Jayden Allen (6th, 27:23), junior Allie Beeson (7th, 28:14), and freshman Ally Selman (8th, 28:26).
Junior Isaac Stovall won the boys race for Wesson in a time of 21:20. The next six Cobras across the finish line in their order of finish were freshman Grady Smith (22:29), seventh grader Dalton Jackson (22:49), eighth grader Brody Ponder (23:23), junior Nic Raiford (23:45), freshman Canderous White (26:53), and eighth grader Leyton Ainsworth (27:06).
The MHSAA 3A girls state championship will go off at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 at Choctaw Trails. The boys’ championship race is then scheduled to begin at 11:35 a.m.
