Brookhaven Academy will face Parklane Academy at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Monday at the Hansel King Sports Complex in the MAIS 5A South State Softball Tournament.

The Cougars (25-4) started the day off with a 2-0 loss to Parklane in a matchup of the two teams that made it undefeated through the first day of tournament play on Saturday.

BA beat St. Aloysius 11-1 on Saturday and then closed the day with a 16-1 win over Copiah Academy.

Coach Lisa Covington’s team eliminated Cathedral School on Monday in a game played after that opening loss to Parklane.

The victory came in stirring fashion, as Cathedral led 5-3 after four complete innings. The Green Wave had beaten the Cougars in two previous meetings this season, but BA got a measure of revenge with a 11-8 come from behind win on Monday.

The Cougars will have to beat Parklane Academy twice in order to capture the 5A South State Tournament tonight as the Pioneers have yet to lose in the double elimination event.
