The Brookhaven FEMA building was packed Thursday night as people gathered  to taste spirits and over 50 types of wine in a fundraiser for the Brookhaven Animal Rescue League. The event also had an online auction with all proceeds going to the animal rescue league.

BARL will host a $10 pet event on Saturday, Oct. 12. People can get a rabies vaccination for $10 and a microchip for $10 to help prevent lost pets. The event will be at Petsense from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a trainer will be on hand to work with people on proper handling of dogs in a public setting.

All cats must be in carriers, all dogs must be leashed and payments must be in cash only.
