Weida Fay Laird McGee

Weida went to her heavenly home July 15, 2024. She was born March 13, 1943, to the late Luther Monroe and Nevis Stringer Laird in Circle 7 Ranch, Hazlehurst, MS. She graduated high school at Bogue Chitto High School in 1963. For a while after graduation she worked at Janie’s Pastry in Brookhaven, MS, where she met her husband Mike McGee. Soon after, they moved to Chicago, IL, for a while, from there moving to Helena, Arkansas, where they lived the most of their last years. She served as secretary at St. Mary’s Catholic Church until her failing health just a few months of her death.
She is survived by two sons, Michael McGee of Memphis, Tennessee, and Carson McGee (Rhonda) of Elaine, AR; two grandsons, Dylan McGee (Breanna) and Bryce McGee; two sisters, Betty Terrell (Jack), of Liberty, MS, and Barbara Beeson, of Brookhaven, MS; one brother, William Luther of Bossier City, Louisiana, better known to her as “Brother.”
She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther Monroe “Luke” Laird and Nevis Stringer Laird; and her husband, Lonnie Michael “Mike” McGee.
Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Helena Arkansas, July 19, 2024.
