Storm threat looms for this evening, Monday

BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County could see more storms this evening into the start of the week. National Weather Service in Jackson warned of both severe storms and a flash flooding risk.
A slight risk of isolated severe storms is forecast by the NWS Jackson office Sunday evening. The storms could bring damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to quarter size. The time window for the storms is 11 pm to 7 am.
Monday’s storms have a greater risk for Lincoln County. NWS Jackson forecasts a slight risk for severe storms. Severe storms will be possible with damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph and hail could be up to golf ball size. Tornadoes are possible. These storms will be in Lincoln County from 6 pm to 9 pm.
The NWS Jackson office warns. A limited threat of flash flooding is included with the weather Sunday and Monday.
NWS Jackson warns 3-to-5 inches of rain with more possible in localized rain events could fall. Localized flash flooding is possible particularly in low lying, urban areas. Minor river flooding is possible.
