Here’s a look at area high school baseball action from Thursday.

West Lincoln 18, Amite County 2

West Lincoln 22, Amite County 0

The West Lincoln Bears have a four-game winning streak after picking up a pair of home wins at Flea Hop on Thursday over the visitors from Amite County High School.

The Trojans from Liberty lost 10-0 against West Lincoln earlier in the week but were without several players on Thursday due to a track meet.

West Lincoln coaches Tony and Craig Davis saw their team trail 2-0 after the first half inning of the opener, but the Bears bounced back to score seven runs in the bottom of the first and they’d not trail again.

WL got 10 hits in the opener. Senior Carson Temple hit a double for the Bears as did junior Gabe Gennaro. Taylor Myers, Aden Purvis, Korben Altman and Ben Segrest had two RBIs each for West Lincoln in the opener.

Myers picked up the pitching win, striking out seven in three innings while giving up one earned run on three hits.

As a team, West Lincoln drew nine walks in the opener and did not have a batter to strike out.

The Bears are 13-7 overall and 3-0 in Region 7-2A. West Lincoln is back in region play on Tuesday with a game at Bogue Chitto.

In game two, the home team needed only five hits to score 22 runs as Amite County committed three errors and issued 16 walks.

Leadoff batter Josh Quin had two hits to lead the West Lincoln offense in game two. Quin drove in two runs as did Segrest. Segrest and Bordy Dillon each smacked a double for the Bears in game two.

Dillon earned the win on the mound by striking out six and walking one. He allowed one hit in three innings.

Brookhaven High 7, N Pike 6

Brookhaven High 10, N Pike 0

It was a successful trip to Summit on Thursday for the Brookhaven High Panthers as they swept a pair of big region games against their rivals from North Pike.

North Pike had won the first game in the region series earlier in the week by a 3-0 final score at Brookhaven High.

Trailing 5-2 after four innings on Thursday, BHS scored two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to seize the win in game one.

Ole Brook coach Matt White saw his team outhit North Pike 11-5 in the opener.

Austin Rylee started on the mound for Brookhaven High. He struck out two, walked four and gave up five runs (three earned) on two hits in four innings. Luke Simmons pitched the fifth inning and Dreamus Harron Jr. pitched the final two innings. Harron Jr. gave up just tow hits and struck out six while walking one.

BHS coach Matt White chose to bring Harron Jr. in late and then use him to start on the mound in game two of that doubleheader and the strategy paid off perfectly. Harron Jr. needed just 67 pitches to pick up the 5-inning, run-ruled win in game two.

In that second game, Harron Jr. gave up just one hit, while striking out five and walking four.

The Panthers scored three in the first, four in the second and three in the third to cruise to the win in game two.

Harron Jr. had the only extra base hit in game one, a double. In game two, BHS got a double apiece from Rylee, EJ Ratliff, Brayden Wilson, DJ Washington and Trent Owens.

Rylee, Ratliff and Owens had two RBIs each in game two while senior Mason White drove in a team high three runs in the opener.

BHS (12-5-1) is now 3-3 in Region 3-5A. In a three-game series last week with Florence, BHS lost the first game of the series 13-1 and then the second game 12-7 before taking the finale at home 6-3.

South Jones swept Florence in their region series this week, taking 5-0, 4-1 and 18-8 wins over the Eagles.

Brookhaven High will play at South Jones on Tuesday and then host the Braves from Ellisville for a big region doubleheader on Friday, April 5.

Enterprise 10, Salem 2

The Enterprise Yellow Jackets broke open a 3-2 game in the bottom of the fifth inning to score six runs in a region win over Salem.

Sophomore pitcher Ryder Martin struck out 10 and walked one in five innings of work. Martin gave up four hits and two unearned runs. Cooper Jordan pitched the final two innings and gave up one hit and struck out three.

Martin helped his own cause at the plate by hitting a triple and driving in two runs. Enterprise had four hits in the win, led by designated hitter Prewitt Falvey with two hits. The Yellow Jackets had 10 batters strike out in the game.

EAC and coach Austin Hood will face their region foes two-time defending MHSAA 1A state champions, Resurrection Catholic, next week in a two-game series.

The teams met in a third-round playoff series last season, won by Resurrection in two close games (6-2, 7-4) as RC went unbeaten through the postseason. The Eagles from Pascagoula are currently 13-2 on the season.

Wesson 21, South Pike 1

The Wesson Cobras used 16 hits to pound South Pike on the road on Thursday in a region game.  First baseman Korbin Ashmore led the Cobras at the plate with four hits, three of those being doubles.

Landan Beasley had two doubles while Jack Wilson, Preston Selman and Tripp Martin each hit a double themselves.

Martin drove in a team-high four runs. Sophomore Parker Brooks pitched the first three innings and struck out five while walking three. He surrendered one hit and one earned run. Layton Cloy pitched the final inning for Wesson and struck out two. Wesson had beaten South Pike 12-0 earlier in the week.

Wesson will face another district opponent for two games next week when they play Port Gibson.
