June East Lofton

June East Lofton, 95, was called to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of March 10, 2024. A private family graveside service will be held in Brookhaven. June was born in Ponchatoula, LA, on June 7, 1928. She moved with her family to Brookhaven, MS, in 1935. She attended Brookhaven High School, graduating in 1946. She then attended Mississippi College, earning a degree in psychology in 1950. She was pursuing a master’s degree in social work at Louisiana State University when she married Charles Edward “Chid” Lofton in 1951, then returning to Brookhaven to start a family. She was a member of First Baptist Brookhaven for over 70 years, where she served on various committees and taught womens’ Sunday School for more than 20 years. She enjoyed serving with her local Girl Scouts troop, and she served as the president of the Women’s Missionary Union.
She moved to St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, MS, in 2009 after her husband of 57 years, Chid, passed away. She is survived by daughters, Linda Ballard; Beth Case and her husband Tony; Laurie Davidson and her husband Stacy; son, Don Lofton and his wife Madelyn; 10 grandchildren, Chad Case and his wife Lacey, Brooke Ballard Meeks and her husband Ilar Paul, Kelly Case Robinson and her husband Brett, Brantley Davidson and his wife Katie, Davis Lofton and his wife Jennifer, Jay Lofton and his wife Rachel, Samuel Davidson and his wife Emily, Caroline Davidson, Andrew Davidson and his wife Anne Watkins, and Elizabeth Lofton; 12 great-grandchildren Case Robinson, Taylor Robinson, Riley Robinson, Lofton Meeks, Charlie Meeks, Ellie Meeks, Emma Jaymes Case, Cameron Case, Sadie Case, Waverley Davidson, Lenna Davidson, and Nell Davidson, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Edward “Chid” Lofton; her parents, Floyd and Myrtice East; sisters, Betsy Lindsay and Ann Ferrell; brothers, Floyd East Jr, Billy East, and Tommy East.
June was a loving and consistent mother and grandmother. She was a voracious reader and a lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves as well as the Mississippi College men’s basketball team. She loved her family, friends, and Jesus intentionally and with steadfastness. She will be missed by all who knew her.

June’s family is forever thankful for the excellent and compassionate care provided to her by the nurses, aides, and all other staff on the second floor of Tuscany building at St. Catherine’s Village.
